ASM Shamsul Arefin- Born in 1951 in Khulna district in Bangladesh, he is a freedom fighter, a writer and a researcher. He joined the Pakistan Army during 1969 and served in the Bangladesh Army till 1982. He retired as a Major. His research subjects mainly focus on the history of War of Liberation of Bangladesh and the Elections of Bangladesh. He has a number of books in his credential. His important books are Bangladesh Documents 1971 (4 volumes), Elections of Bangladesh (1970-2008), Muktizudder Prekha Pate Bektir Abostan, War of Greater Mymenshing, Role of Police Forces during War of Liberation (4 volumes), Zia-Manjoor Killing, Associates of Pakistan Army and Election Analysis of Bangladesh (1991-2001) and A Hand Book on Indian Elections and Governance (1947-2014). He has participated in a number of seminars and symposium in home and abroad. Shamsul Arefin is associated with many social, cultural and freedom fighter organisations.
