Ranjan Bandyopadhyay started his career as a lecturer in English at the Scottish Church College, Kolkata. Later, after sixteen years, he made an exploratory shift from academia to journalism. Since then, he has helmed several leading Bengali newspapers, and continues to do so. At the same time he has authored several best-sellers. Some of his most researched subjects are Rabindranath Tagore, Paramahansa Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda among others. Kadambari Devir Suicide Note (Kadambari Devi’s Suicide Note), Girish o Binodini (Girish and Binodini), Pransakha Vivekananda 1–3 (My Friend Vivekananda Volumes 1–3), Plata Nadir Dhare (By the side of River Plata) are some of his most popular titles.
